aspiring astrophysicist, writer, and educator
I am an astrophysics student from the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena and currently a Fulbright Scholar at the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy in Heidelberg, Germany. I am passionate about theoretical astrophysics because it tells a story about how the Universe came to be. Similarly, I try to create a narrative about my research that can reach a wide audience.

I want to use computation and astrophysics to simulate our Universe. Modern cosmological simulations can naturally realize observations of the Universe in the full cosmological context, with an unprecedented combination of numerical resolution and volume. I have worked on numerous research projects on galaxy evolution and supermassive black holes with IllustrisTNG.

I have been a scientist and a writer, always. I know that astronomy has the power to capture the imagination. Like art and poetry, astronomy tells a story, though one from the beginning of time: the story of our Universe. In the field of astrophysics that I am interested in, cosmological simulations tell a story by allowing us to picture how the Universe and its galaxies came to be over billions of years with data visualizations. As an passionate advocate of “storytelling for scientists,” I enjoy communicating science through personal narratives. See me in action as a science storyteller here, and visit my astropoetry blog.
